Mexican Stocks: Cemex, Telmex Shares Declines; Azteca Advances

The following companies had unusual price changes in mexico trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 4 p.m. New York time.
The IPC index fell 0.7 percent to 36,450.19.
Cemex SAB (CEMEXCPO MM), the largest cement maker in the Americas, fell 2.7 percent to 10.39 pesos. Cemex yesterday announced plans to sell as much as $1.38 billion of notes convertible to its U.S. shares.

Grupo Mexico SAB (GMEXICOB MM), the country’s largest mining company, dropped 2.3 percent to 43.10 pesos. Copper fell to the lowest in more than two months on concern that demand will wane as higher energy costs slow the global economy.
Telefonos de Mexico SAB (TELMEXL MM), Mexico’s largest fixed-line telephone company, dropped 1.7 percent to 10.57 pesos. The company plans to split into two companies to separate its phone business in rural and low-income areas. Telmex may use the split to create a new share listing.
TV Azteca SAB (TVAZTCPO MM), Mexico’s second-largest broadcast television network, gained 3.1 percent to 8.74 pesos. The company had its 12-month price-target raised by Credit Suisse AG analyst Andrew Campbell.
